Dear Graham

I am 44, divorced after an abusive relationship. I have raised two kind, respectful and loving children. I met a very kind man six years ago and we have enjoyed a loving relationship, living separately but spending at least half our time together, mainly at my house as my children live with me. He is older, also divorced. His children recently came to live with him after his wife remarried.

He says he wants us to live together when his children are independent; but they are 25 and 20. How long will I have to wait for him to decide they are old enough to cope with their father making a properly merged life with the woman he loves?
